Why a perfect LED strip looks uneven on site.

The cable, run length and power decisions that deserve an earlier conversation.

The last metre tells a story.

A strip can look excellent on a sample bench and disappoint at the end of a long installation. The installed result depends on the complete circuit: the supply, cable, connectors, controller and copper tracks in the strip. A visible change in brightness is a reason to investigate that system before replacing the light source.

Specify the route, not just the reel.

A product schedule that lists metres of strip and a driver wattage leaves important decisions open. Mark feed locations and cable distances on the drawing. Include the actual circuit length rather than the distance measured in a straight line. Long runs may require separately fed sections, with the arrangement checked against the strip and controller instructions.

A diffuser cannot correct an electrical problem.

Diffusion, channel depth and LED spacing influence visible dots. They do not compensate for an inadequate feed. Test the final strip, profile and diffuser together at the intended viewing distance. If the sample changes colour or brightness along its length, record where that change begins and check the supply voltage under load.

What to include in your RFQ.

Send a marked plan, the length and power of each strip run, the desired colour temperature, dimming method and intended driver location. Ask for a circuit-by-circuit response rather than one total wattage. Have the qualified installer confirm cable sizing, protection and mains connections for the actual site.

Common questions

Will using a larger driver fix voltage drop?

Additional rated power alone does not remove voltage loss in cables, connections or the strip. Review the complete circuit and the manufacturer’s feed limits.

Does COB eliminate every visible lighting defect?

COB can reduce visible LED dots. Uniformity still depends on power delivery, diffuser, mounting and viewing conditions.
